Zizzi Canary Wharf - 33 Westferry Circus, London, E14 8RR

A narrative perception of the seeing the city.

I worked onto the geometrical forms of the lanterns a non figurative perspective of Canary Wharf with only vertical and horizontal lines. The Thames is also drawn with some distinguishing curves. My aim was to create a sense of vertigo moreovere linking a non representative urban landscape with characters emphasizing the surrealist city, a metaphor of Canary Wharf.
The inverted figures view their own reflections within the illustration.
There is a double reflection, the lanterns themselves within the drawings and secondly the mirrors within the restaurant itself. The physical reality of the restaurant embraces the drawings as the lanterns are suspended and reflected in the mirrors, all these elements give a true sense of architecture.
